Not only share a portal, but a portal configuration. We work on a number of projects in-house, and run projects for clients as well.

I set up a portal page for us and one for each client, with their projects under it by entering individual project portlets.

This looks good initially, as our dashboard is also growing to "a half mile long" as another user comments. Dismayed to find out that this would have to be recreated and administered on every desktop.

1. GLOBAL PORTALS Portals selectable as "global" vs individual. Adding a project to a global portal shows up automatically on every desktop.

2. CONFIGURABLE PROJECTS PORTLET Being able to select which projects appear on an instance of this portlet would be a big plus for portal usability.

3. PROJECT GROUPING A way to group projects, which augments 1 and 2 above, so projects/portal pages can be linked to a business unit or other useful grouping. Just like issues have types, projects cna have groups.

GLOBAL PORTALS, CONFIGURABLE PROJECTS PORTLET, PROJECT GROUPS Would address many of these issues.

This feature is very important to us. What is your target for roll-out. History on issue does not mention any progress or status. Also, this issue is unassigned.

likewise ... any idea as to when it will be released/developed ?

Nick Menere [Atlassian] - 02/Jan/07 04:20 PM
This is definitely something we want to start looking at soon, but first we need to clean up and improve the saved filters system across the whole of JIRA. Once that is in place this should be a lot easier to accomplish.

Srinivasu Kalluri - 28/Feb/07 03:59 PM
We use Jira to manage several projects. As a Jira administrator and Quality lead, I would like to bring clarity and focus to the team by setting up and rolling out a custom portal per project. Also I would like to show different reports for different projects.

This feature implementation is critical when managing multiple projects using Jira. I would like to know the target fix release for this change request.

John Scott Tynes - 23/Aug/07 03:01 PM
We have just rolled out Jira for bug tracking at our company. I've made a custom portal to show a variety of metrics on how we're doing and would really like to be able to share this with other leads and the entire QA team.

Jens Henrik N. Jensen - 18/Sep/07 08:58 AM
I agree to all comments. Custom portals should be shared if needed be. Maybe it could be done like Filters where you can make it a public filter?

Don Preuss - 08/Oct/07 08:28 AM
Just to add another voice to this... Is there there work going on to enable this? In the interim, It would be acceptable (not great) to be able to export the portal page and re-import it per user. That would work as a workaround for some of our projects.

William Chever - 08/Oct/07 11:23 AM
Don,

You may want to look at the JRA-2509 thread. There's a plugin being offered that will likely solve your problems.
