Hi

We are trying to use the time tracking features in JIRA as much as possible.

One of the main places for room for improvement is reporting. Currently, the only reports are the time tracking report and the developer workload report.

Those two reports have a very specific filter which cannot be configured.

Wouldn't it be a good idea, easy enough, to use the current filtering system in JIRA, and extend it with a "time tracking view" option, so only the selected items in the filter are used in the time tracking report?

So if I want to do a time tracking report of issues for version 3.0 in the "UI" component, i can first do a search for those isssues, and then click on a "time tracking view" button/link.

Of course, this ideally should be complemented by the ability to use the time tracking fields on a search (see JRA-961).

Added extra issue navigator column displaying ratio of actual work vs original estimate. Also added ability to search against this ratio using a min, max or range query.

We have another use for such a search. We would like to use the work logged to enter information into timesheets. For this, we need to search for all work logged by a user over a time period. This may include issues not assigned to the user (due to collaboration or reassignment).

A modified Version Workload report would be good, if I could filter by dates instead of version, and show time logged instead of time remaining.

There is an issue open on period based worklow reports and filtering at JRA-6137. Vote or comment on the issue if it is of importance.

This and JRA-6137 haven't been touched in a while. Are they still relevant?

Perhaps it's useful to mention that the Kaamelot plug-in seems to cover WorkLog reports quite well.

This is a necessary capability for us, since we have multiple applications being tracked in one project. Voted! If all the userful time tracking (worklog) reports can be based on filters, it would be the most flexible and meet our needs.

John Gethoefer added a comment - 30/Apr/08 01:59 PM
Agree with Tyler and also voted. Filters as the criteria appears to offer the most flexibility.

Prerna Mahajan added a comment - 13/Jun/08 09:08 AM
We would like this to be implemented as this is a nice report to have for the management.
