For each task we need a little IMPLEMENTATION, ANALAYSIS, PROJECT MANAGMENT, TESTING, DOCUMENTATION...I wouldn't like to split one task into several tasks just to know how much time was spent on different types of work.

It would be great if user could specify what type of work was he doing in Log Work.

Voted. This is a critical need for us, and will be more so as we refine how we use subtasks and linked issues.

Jacen Greene-Powell added a comment - 06/Jul/06 10:11 AM
Voted for this issue. This is also an essential need for our company, and would prove hugely useful in tracking development time.

Max Weißböck added a comment - 08/Aug/06 10:57 AM
That is also one thing our current issue tracking system can do and is a must have feature

Vincent Thoulé added a comment - 02/Apr/07 02:27 AM - edited
Hi,

Waiting an Atlassian implementation of this feature, have a look on Kaamelot Plugins.

Voted. We need to add a custom field to identify the type of work done for an issue.

We have expanded JIRA usage specifically because of the time logging function. We use Kaamelot for getting the work log type - it is critical to make time logging meaningful. However, this support should be integrated into the JIRA base as a following up to the logging improvements made recently. There are a number of reasons for this:
  1. Simplify Kaamelot installation/customization
  2. Support worklog type on the remote API (SOAP etc..)
  3. Enable worklog type support as part of IDE integrations (Mylyn, ...)
