In the current version of Jira, the username that is used for "Reporter" is the currently logged in user.

However, some users of Jira are "helpdesk" people who are creating new issues on behalf of other people (who themselves are jira users).

It is necessary to be able to (optionally) select "Reporter" from a list.

There should also be a corresponding permission for "impersonation".

This is necessary for us to use Jira instead of Remedy.

As we're in the same type of 'helpdesk' scenario with JIRA, we're also hoping to see this feature implemented.

Fixed in the upcoming 2.7 release - see JRA-761 for implementation details.
