I am going crazy trying to figure out why I cannot create an issue via email. I get zero feedback from JIRA to determine what is going on - other than no new issues are created.
A simple "Test Login" for POP/IMAP would at least let me know if I can access the mailbox correctly.

I see what you mean.

At the moment, the JIRA log file is the only place that conatins clues as to why something is not working.

Yes, I realize that - that is why I made the feature request - also, you
have to restart the server to enable the logs - something that is not
standard practice in a production environment when you are just trying
to verify if a mailbox account is set up -
I hope this doesn't mean you are going to close the request because
there is a (substandard) workaround

Hi Joseph,

I will certainly not close this request as I definitely see that this improvement is worthwhile.

However, please note that there are thousands of feature requests that are currently open for JIRA. While we would love to implement them all, we only have a limited set of development resources to work with and therefore are forced to choose which fieatures to implement next, such that we can deliver them in a high quality and scalable fashion.

For more information on the way new feature and improvement requests are scheduled, please see:

Cheers,
Anton
