Hi Mathieu,

I am not sure what you mean. If you backup the JIRA data and restore it in the new system, the Saved Filters will also be migrated across.

Would you be able to describe in more detail what you are trying to do? Are you trying to migrate just the Saved Filters, without moving the rest of the data across?

Cheers,
Anton

I can't restore the backup on my second instance because there is already data in it. I'm merging 2 Jira instance with different data.

Mathieu,

Thanks for the update. The feature request for being able to migrate project data (issues) between JIRa instances is JRA-1604. We are trying to implement that feature for JIRA 4.0. The implementation will migrate issue data, but not the saved filters.

Do you mean that you would like to add the ability to migrate saved filters from one JIRa instance to another as well as the issue data?

If so, may I ask how many filters would you need to migrate? And how often do you believe you will need to do this?

Cheers,
Anton

This should be part of the feature request to migrate project data. I have about 20 saved filters to transfer but for now, it's not important because the feature is not implement yet and I have to import the data manually so forget about the saved filter. But importing attachment is much more important and you do not offert it anyway.

Tks.

Hi Mathieu,

You are right, at the moment there is not out of the box way to move projects between JIRA instances. The currently available solutions are described in our online documentation:
http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/docs/latest/merging_jira.html

We are working on a solution for moving projects between JIRA instances (JRA-1604) and we are hoping to deliver it with JIRA 4.0. Attachments will be included as part of the solution.

The problem with moving filters across is that they often span multiple projects, and have a lot of information tied to the instance of JIRA they have been created in. For example, custom field values, ids of things such as isue types, statuses, resolytions, etc.

While it would be possible to move filters across, it would require a significant investment of effort to implement that feature. As we have a lot of very popular feature requests, I do not think we would be able to look at this improvement in short to medium future.

Would you like me to resolve this issue, or would you prefer to keep it open?

Cheers,
Anton

You can close it. I'm going to vote for JRA-1604.
