Hi,

Because we want to authenicate our current userbase using LDAP we have to change the jira usernames.
Example:

According to our LDAP server franks should be changed to f.stegeman.

I made a backup of the current XML file and changed all usernames in it.
When i place the backup back to our prod env the usermanagement section isn't working well anymore.

All users have disappeared and some of them can be found in the group browser! (not in the user browser!)

Can you tell me how we can change all the usernames in a good way so when can use LDAP authentication.

Thanks for your help.

Frank

Have you looked at JRA-1549?

Hi Frank,

Unfortuantely, we do not have detailed instructions on how to rename users. In theory the easiest way to accomplish this is via replacing the usernames in the backup XML file. If this did not work, then a mistake was probably made when doing the replace.

If you are having trouble with the production system, I recommend going back to the latest working backup you have, where the usernames were not renamed.

Then I would recommend taking another stab at doing the find/replace on the usernames and tetsing the XML backup in a test system. The easiest way to get a test instance up and running is by downloading the Standalone distribution of JIRA:
http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/JIRADownloadCenter.jspa
and getting that up and running by importing the XML where the usernames have been replaced.

If you run into troubles, the best thing to do is to create a support request in our support system:
http://support.atlassian.com
where our Support Team may help.

Cheers,
Anton
