I have not seen this feature in the release notes of newer JIRA releases (>3.6).

Creating issues does not provide means to also add watchers.
This must be done in the next step using "Manage Watch List".
The added watchers do not get notified about the new issue.

It would be very useful to have means to send emails for the newly added watchers in the "Manage Watch List".

A possible solution is to add a "Send Email notification" button (similar to the "Remove" one), and also have the checkboxes of the newly added watchers to be selected by default.

I think this is covered by the linked issue JRA-5494

I agree, this looks the same as JRA-5494, and therefore I will resolve this issue as a duplicate.

Please vote for JRA-5494 and add yourself as a watcher to the issue. You can add any comment you have to JRA-5494.
