It is often necessary to copy-paste jira issue title to emails or other documents, it should contain both ID(with link) and summary.
For example:
JRA-1 Handy issue title (id + summary)

Currently you need to go and copy-paste summary and then copy-paste ID with link.

It would be nice to copy-paste these fields with one step by either adding ID link (with tiny font for example) in front of summary or using some action like "Copy summary to clipboard"

Adding a keyboard shortcut (or link) to copy contents to the operating system clipboard is not possible in a corss browser fashion.

The solution would be to display the issue key next to the summary, Not sure if this will look good.

Please note that you can modify a JSP file in JIRA to do this if you like.

Cheers,
Anton

I think adding it next to the summary won't be good, I attached screen with proposed solution

I think adding it next to the summary won't be good,

Yeah, that's my problem as well.

Do you have any other suggestions about how to get this done? At the moment it does not look like we have a good solution.

Cheers,
Anton

Do you think adding it in front of Summary (like I depicted in screenshot) is not appropriate? There is a lot of unused space in this panel.
We can make key even smaller and no underlying line so that title doesn't look busy.

Maybe we even can put it in one line:

JIRA - JRA-14441 Handy issue title (id + summary)

Another (not preferred) work around is to make summary a link, even not having Key in front of it(and probably even not having underlying line), so that even if you copy-paste summary only, you would have it as a link.

Hi Igor,

To be honest I (personally) just do not like the key being dispalyed next to the summary. UI is a very personal thing

I have talked to our UI people here, and we will take another look at this. I cannot, unfortunately promise the date for when this will be done. There is a lot of UI improvements that we would like to do, but they need to be scheduled just like the rest of (thousands) improvements that we have.

Please note, that it is possible to edit a JSP file to get this to work at the moment.

Cheers,
Anton

I'm not asking this because I just like key in front of the summary, I ask because it functionally does what is needed (even by making UI a little bit busy)
I'll update jsp in my copy, that's no problem, I thought It might be useful for others.
Created another request which may reduce the need to copy-paste issue summary: JRA-14471
