As part of managing our JIRA database, we have a user who needs to be able to search for fields that are blank:

For example, the only way to determine if a replacement item has been shipped to a customer is to check for the Return to Customer Ship Date field. If it is blank, then the unit has not had a replacement sent. However, we have not found a way to select only records where this field is blank.

We have more than one instance where this would be useful. Currently we are exporting to Excel and sorting there, and it's a nuisance on a number of levels.

Hi Tracey,

The feature request for this improvement is JRA-7909, which we hope to address in a future release of JIRA. At the moment I do not have an implementation date for it. For more information on the way new features are scheduled please see:
http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DEV/Implementation+of+New+Features+and+Improvements

I will resolve this issue as a duplicate. Please vote for JRA-7909 and add yourself as a watcher to the issue.

Please note that you should be able to sort on the field in JIRA, without having to export to Excel first.

Cheers,
Anton
