 Description  « Hide
We have had a few support cases and live chats recently where the customer has said that they are using Active Directory. We have assumed that they would tell us if they were also using Crowd, so we assumed that they were using the "default" LDAP support. It wasn't until much later that we found out that the customer was also using Crowd. Knowing this earlier would have saved some time and avoided confusion, so...

Could we add some info to the System Info page telling us that Crowd is present? Simply "Crowd is here' would help, although I imagine there are some useful Crowd configuration parameters that you could display as well.

Another thing to have a look at when you have some spare time

The difficult part will be dynamically figuring out if Crowd is enabled. Chat to the Crowd guys about the best way to do this.

One idea might be to snoop at the running OSUser config.

I've spoken to Shihab and Justin, and currently there is no standard way of retrieving Crowd information.

The best we can do for now is have a "yes/no" flag by examining the concrete class of some OSUser interfaces (e.g. CredentialsProvider).

I have raised a feature request with the Crowd team to add this functionality. Anton, Ian - could you please view this issue and comment on what extra Crowd information you think could be useful?

As Ian has mentioned in the description having a "yes/no" is good for a start. Lets do that first.

We can then add more info. What Shihab mention on CWD-718 sounds good.

Cheers,
Anton

A simple "on/off" flag has been added to the System Info page, which means it has also been added to the Support Request page.

This fix should be available in 3.12.2.
