            Okay, it seems more like updating the property file and let people know that don't use the hyphen instead.

            Hi,

            At the moment we do not have plans to change the behaviour. Customising project keys (at all) is something we have added after it has been requested by a few customers and to be honest, were very sorry afterwards. It lead to quite a few problems in different areas. Fixing those problems instead of working on other very popular feature requests is something we had to do.

            Supplying a project key regular expression provides a lot of flexibility. However, hyphen is a character that cannot be used.

            Using "-" in the project key is a usual (constant?) request from customers.
            Shouldn't the current behaviour be changed ?
            For exemple by processing the issue key's separator from the end of the key instead of the beginning ?

            Some JIRA code depends on the hyphen being the separator between project key and issue sequence number.

            For example JRA-XYZ-10234 would not be searched properly as belonging to the project with key "JRA-XYZ"
