The global time-tracking field is used for our development team; We'd like to add another field for QA. I checked the "Custom fields" section and didn't see a way to add this as a custom field. Is this possible in version 3.10.2? If not, can this be added in a future version?

Thanks,
Doris

is this the same as the linked issue JRA-12920?

Doris,

Please let us know if this is the same as JRA-12920.

At the moment this deature is not planned and we have thousands of feature and imporvement requests. To be honest, I do not think we will be able to get to this one soon. For more information on the way we shcedule improvements and new features please see:
http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DEV/Implementation+of+New+Features+and+Improvements

Please note that custom fields are pluggable in JIRA and therefore it should be possible to develop a field that provides the needed functionality. For more information on developing a custom field please see:
http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/How+to+create+a+new+Custom+Field+Type

If you have any questions about developing plugins for JIRA the best place to ask questions is on the JIRA Dev Forum:
http://forums.atlassian.com/

Cheers,
Anton

If to address this issue, need to address it globally - custom fields in worklog not to log time spent only, but whatever people want to log - pages of documentation written, lines of source code, pig-irons, gold bullions

Look at JRA-13264 to see what we want to apply JIRA for.
Currently we are forced using Comment field for that and then parse it to generate report on production results.

Yes, this is the same as JRA-12920. It would be extremely helpful if this could be implemented.
Thanks!
Doris

I will resolve this issue as a duplicate of JRA-12920.
