When you mention an issue by textually its key, e.g. MYKEY-123, in text, Jira automatically creates a link for that.

When you move an issue to a different project, e.g. to MYOTHERKEY-123, and reference MYKEY-123 in a URL, etc., Jira automatically redirects.

However, when I move MYKEY-123 to a new project, textual references to it no longer appear as links. It would be nice if they would stay as links, and Jira just uses the redirect behaviour.

We're running into this problem quite a bit. we have lots of inexperienced users on the SL jira, so issues frequently have to be moved.

Another user thinks this would be a nice idea as well.

i'd find this very useful too - we move a lot of issues around, including the bulk moving of large numbers of issues. where people have referred to these issue keys in the comments or description fields of other issues, the references are effectively lost. although i didn't realise until reading this improvement request that jira redirects for old keys. i was originally wondering whether the old keys referred to textually could be updated during the move, but if they could stay as links, that would probably suffice.
