In 3.7, JIRA has two links on the search results page for RSS:
RSS ( Issues | Comments )
The problem with simply linking is that the user doesn't get a chance to specify:
- what they want back - issues, comments - why not both?
- what authentication type they want (defaults to none - usually not correct - see docs)
- what maximum results they want (defaults to 1000 to stop crawlers killing JIRA with huge searches - frequently unexpected)
Instead, JIRA should have an RSS feed builder, like Confluence. What to get back (issues, comments, worklogs, etc) should be checkboxes, so users can get exactly what they want, and authentication should default to BASIC, since most people's issues are protected by a permission scheme.
