When adding portlets, the validation performed on the properties are basic/standard type checking.

Allowing portlets to extend their own validation will make them more robust by filtering out invalid inputs before the portlet is added to the dashboard.

A simple usage: Check 'Number of Issues' to display for (watches, votes, assigned to me, etc) portlets to be positive (greater than 0).
