If you delete a component, Jira offers to map the component to another name. If you do that, one would expect that component change to be reflected in the individual issues, but it is not. There is no change recorded in the individual issue.
This is an audit trail issue for SOX compliance.

Component Deletion is not logged in tickets which had their component changed (audit trail issue for SOX)
