At the moment when viewing a particular user's role membership, the screen shows a tick if the user is directly associated with a role or a cross, if the user is not directly associated with a role.

If the user is associated with a role through a group (but not directly), then the group (or groups) name(s) is shown in brackets, but the shown icon is a cross. If the user is directly associated with a role and through a group the icon is a tick, and the groups are shown in brackets.

Showing a cross if the user is associated with a role through a group (or groups) is confusing. I think the behaviour should be:

      1. If the user is a member of the role through a group (and not directly) show a 'group' icon (we need to find a good group icon, currently we do not have one). In this case, do not show a cross. Show the group names (leave this behaviour as is). The only thing that changes is that instead of a cross we show a group icon.
      2. If the user is a member of a role through a group (or groups) and directly. Show both the tick and the group icons. List group names as is done now. The only thing that changes is that we will show the group icon as well as the tick icon.
      3. User is directly associated with a role but not through any groups. Show a tick as is done now. No changes required for this use case.

To navigate to the page that shows users role membership go to Administration -> User Browser -> Select a user -> Click View Project Roles
