We have a rather large service-oriented architecture where logically each service is a separate project, with separate development teams. Each project has it's own set of Components, and parallel version names and release dates.

We'd like to be able to generate cross-project roadmap views and release notes, ideally driven by a filter that could be used to control what projects are included.

Yes this would be very handy, I in fact was looking for ways to do this, called support can't do it. I can't imagine more people not needing this.

This indeed would be very useful for us too.

The problem is that I think it is technically impossible for now because the roadmaps are based on "versions" and versions can't be shared among projects.

I think it may somehow be related to JRA-12241, or might be even resolved by it:
It would be great if I could create a project with sub-projects, define versions on the highest-level project, then choose to display the roadmap for a sub-project or the whole project and its children.
