When using SOAP, the first step is to obtain the WSDL from JIRA. Say JIRA is running on HTTP (port 8080) and HTTPS (8443). If I request the WSDL via HTTP first:

http://localhost:8080/rpc/soap/jirasoapservice-v2?wsdl

Then the http://localhost:8080 part is baked into the generated WSDL even for subsequent requests for:

https://localhost:8443/rpc/soap/jirasoapservice-v2?wsdl
