      Atlassian Update - February 2026

      Hi everyone,

We’ve now completed the work to increase the issue limit for Jira Plans.

The issue limit for Plans has been increased from 5,000 to 10,000 issues for commercial Jira Cloud customers (this does not yet include FedRAMP environments).

This change follows an extended period of performance improvements and load testing.

We’ve been running this at 10K in production as a soft launch and are not seeing problems with timeouts or stability so far.

As part of this work, we’ve also split the scope of this original suggestion into two public tickets:

This ticket (JRACLOUD-89221) now tracks the issue limit increase to 10K, which is releasing.

A new ticket, JRACLOUD-97317, tracks requests to increase the project limit per plan.

Because the issue-limit work described here is now delivered, we’ll be resolving this ticket as Completed. If you’re specifically interested in increasing the number of projects that can be added to a plan, please watch and vote on https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-97317 so we can track demand and share future updates there.

Thank you to everyone who voted, commented, and provided feedback, it directly informed this work.

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Portfolio Cloud. Using JIRA Portfolio Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Problem Definition

Currently there is an upper limit of 100 Project and 5000 open issues per plan due to performance restriction.

      Suggested Solution

We want to make this more scalable and allowing more project and issues per plan to support larger clients.

      Workaround

      None.
