My old configuration was confluence 2.5.4 ear/war with german language pack (loaded from your site, see attachment) installed.

I just upgraded to 2.6.0 using your upgrade documentation, without copying the language pack (2.6.0 has the german translation included). From now on it's impossible to change the default language to english, the displayed language still stays in german. Same with changing the user prefered language to english. On the other side, switching to french works.

I also tried the following

  • I restarted the web container (tomcat)
  • I deactivated the german language plugin
    without any visible results.

The only way to get back to english is removing the $CONFLUENCE_HOME/confluence/WEB-INF/lib/confluence-de_DE-plugin-1.1.jar file. When I reinstalled this file, I get the same behaviour as described above.

I have the same issue with a new confluence 2.6.1 install.

Hi!

Exactly the same issue with a newly installed (Evaluation) Confluence (Build:#2.6.2 919).

Except the removal of the "confluence-de_DE-plugin-1.1.jar", as described above, doesn't work for us.
Is there any other workaround known?
-> I would even consider re-installing Confluence (and restore the data), if that would help in any way.

The language during the setup process is german by default and not choosable by the user. Is there probably a way to 'fool' the setup process to switch to english and that (hopefully) sets the default Confluence language to english?

This issue will block our evaluation at some point in the near future.

This issue blocks our upgrade process from 2.5.2 to 2.6.2

I had the same trouble with Confluence since version 2.6 and unfortunately the issue still persists in version 2.7. - Just testet with the standalone version.

Funny thing is, I can switch the default language from "English" to "French" and it works fine, but changing back to "English" will obviously still show the german language.

This bug is quite annoying and I can't really understand, why it is not fixed in version 2.7!

Setting the system-property "user.language" to "en" is a workaround, but that can screw up other things like date formatting and parsing.

Where's the "Legendary Support"??

Hi Sascha,

A proper resolution to this issue has been implemented and bundled into Confluence 2.7.1. Thanks for your patience with this issue.

Cheers,
Dave
