A user is allowed to create a username "Anonymous" which conflicts with the "Anonymous Users" who can use Confluence without logging in.

Two scenarios where this inconsistency has been observed:

1) Dasboard:

In the recently updated pages, there is no clear distinction between the pages changed by "Anonymous" who is logged into Confluence and an anonymous user who is not logged into Confluence. The only difference being the logged in users (username is Anonymous) is underlined and the other is not. They both are spelled as "Anonymous" on the Dashboard.
A screenshot has been attached to highlight the problem.

2) Global Activity Plugin:

The username "Anonymous" is underlined with a different icon and the edits made by all other anonymous users are listed under "Anonymous Users" which is not underlined, and the icon is grey and different.
A screenshot has been attached to highlight the problem. Here a clear distinction exists between the Anonymous confluence user and anonymous user himself.

The above behaviour is not consistent between the two scenarios. Either the username "Anonymous" should be reserved by Confluence or some kind of distinction is required between the two type of users.

Made 'anonymous' and also the current translation of 'anonymous' for the default server language into reserved words for both username and full-name.

This only affects signup and changing your details inside Confluence - there's no restriction on users created by the Administrator directly, or that exist already, or that come from external systems.
