    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

Currently all users of confluence are displayed in the people directory regardless of whether they are part of any user group or given any use permissions.
Ideally these inactive users should not be displayed if they are not part of any group or do not have any confluence use permissions.

[CONFSERVER-7771] People directory should not display inactive users

            Previous fix rolled back

Fix is to be rolled back because:

It seems that the concept of deactivation is not properly defined and we don't have an efficient implementation of this concept in the index or the database. Until it becomes a story important enough for the these thing to come about, we cannot implement a proper fix for this now.

Question on this (or at least related): Our Confluence is connected to an LDAP. What happens when the individual leaves the company and his LDAP account is disabled? From a tracking perspective we still want to see the person's name on pages they've changed (history) and if they set up a Personal Space we want that content to remain available.

This may be the way it is today, I haven't had the opportunity to see personally, but this case caught my eye and I figured I'd bring it up. Thank you.
