When editing a page, the top half of the page springs up fairly quickly...then pauses, then the edit window shows up a several seconds later.

The HTML can be upwards of 150Kb, even with only 30 characters of actual content.

The reason seems to be the newSpaceKey drop-down which on a large site can have hundreds, or in our enterprise installation, thousands of spacekeys and descriptions - totally some 90kb.

I find that users less frequently move pages between spaces, so this seems like a great place for a bit of Ajax magic to speed things up. Also, a drop-down of 1,750 spaces is almost impossible to use, so I'd like the option of just displaying the favorite spaces and/or the ability to type a spacekey to search for the spaces.

If you have a large or rapidly growing Confluence site, and plan to have many public spaces, you might want to vote for this issue.
