It would be great if Confluence supported more forum like discussion capabilities, i.e. very thin subject lines for each thread topic that then link through to the full thread - like traditional forums.

It would be ideal if comments could be turned into forums at a page level as a page option and it would also be great if discussions could be held either in place of comments or under a seperate tab (if discussions were turned on for the page). Customers have requested both alternatives during discussions.

Comments in their current form are a very poor substitute for real forum discussion. Perhaps they are okay for commenting on the content of a wiki page, but for actual discussions it is nowhere close to satisfactory. Claims in the marketing materials (vis. "Turn any page into a team discussion forum") are a real stretch.

In my company, I push to get things put into our Confluence wiki, but it ends up going into Sharepoint because of the threaded discussion capability therein. Although I find this disappointing, I can't really argue with this decision for those things where discussion of the content is really important. Please consider adding this feature to save me from Sharepoint
