Currently, the only parameter that we can provide to the generalSpaceList() call is the width of the table.

That would be nice if we could also define if we want the space description to be displayed or if the template was editable through the administration space.

At the moment, the only way to display the description of the space on the Dashboard is to modify: confluence\template\xhtml\spacelist.vm

That option is not easy to maintain.
