Modifying livesearch plug-in to search by space, pages, documents.

Could the livesearch plug-in, listed here: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/XWork+Plugins ,
be modified so that it can be configured to only search a specific space.

For example:

Extending this idea, the plug-in should be able to do search for specific pages, document type, etc.
To start with, providing the ability to search a particular space would be really nice
