 Description  « Hide
My company use an Exchange mail server with possibility to fetch mail via IMAP, but not POP3. It would be a lot easier to market the Mail archive functionality if it would work with Exchange or IMAP and not only POP3.

Regards Robert

Same here. My company does not allow the use of POP3 to access the exchange server, only IMAP. I'm waiting to get the mail archiving working. Jira has the suuport, so should be easy to add?

Neil O"Toole added a comment - 04/Apr/06 08:11 PM
Likewise at my firm, Exchange is used, and access is only allowed via secure IMAP. This is quite a common thing, POP support is being phased out in many large organizations.

Thank you for your suggestions.

We will consider to implement IMAP support for the Mail Archiving feature in a future version of Confluence.

Jens: How far in the future? Its pretty important for us...

Matt Ryall [Atlassian] added a comment - 21/May/06 08:38 PM
Hi Nick,

We don't set fixed release dates, and tend to prioritise customer suggestions based on votes.

Just so we understand what you're after, can you explain why would you like the IMAP mail archived in Confluence? Since IMAP mail is stored permanently on the server, it should be simple to have an Archive box which is accessible and searchable by everyone without involving Confluence.

Regards,
Matt

Hi Matt, I thought Confluence was supposed to work as a wiki/content management system. - A way to manage, classify, edit and make information accessible to different people at different locations using one integrated tool.

An alternative is for everyone to use a different application to retrieve and send different kind of data. Email, Internet- and Intranet httpservers, FTP servers/clients etc.

The idea of using Confluence as a the one user interface feels a lot more appelling to me though.

We also are phasing out POP3 (a large university).
While we are just reviewing confluence at this time, by
the time we bought it, we might very well no longer have our
POP3 capabilities.

we are reviewing using Confluence as our departmental
documentation resource as well as group email and
problem resolution, therefore the email archiving capabilities
would be a nice feature.

Ray

I have casted my vote for this feature. I can only reiterate what has already been said. This is a very important feature for us too. I would assume that in most corporate networks using exchange, pop3 is not really an option.

Anthony Whitford added a comment - 02/Jul/06 10:25 PM
According to CONF-2258, this has been resolved in 2.2.5.

Dave Loeng [Atlassian] added a comment - 03/Jul/06 02:46 AM
Fixed in 2.2.5.

Cheers,
Dave

hurrah

Thanks

For my company this is also a very important feature and version 2.2.5 looks far away from us.
Any chance to get it sooner???

Charles Miller [old account, do not assign issues] added a comment - 16/Nov/06 01:30 AM
Christian: 2.2.5 was released five months ago. We can't really make it much sooner than that!
