Yes, this would be an incredibly useful feature. I'm glad that there is at least some Page-Copy functionality in 2.0, but there are definately additional useful Copy-related features that could be added.
Space copy, during which you could specify whether you want to just grab Pages + attachments, or limit the copy in other ways. For instance, I may want to just create a duplicate Space with permissions setup. Or a Space with all pages + content + attachments, but no comments or news or mail. Another useful thing would be an option to copy a page, but at the same time copy all decendant pages beneath it. This would require a bit more work, as a UI of some sort for creating unique new page names would be implemented. Another option would be a choice to append some text to the start or end of each page title, like "new" or "copy of." along this line, perhaps deleteing an entire tree of pages from the top level. Maybe these should be moved to a new issue... Agree totally. There should be a way to clone a whole space easily, with a way to specify a group for security as well.
If I have a new customer called ACME, I want to:
That would be really nice. Kind regards, There are two distinct feature requests open relating to copying space content.
Please be sure to vote towards the issue/s that most closely matches your needs. David Soul This would be extremely useful to me. I regularly need to snapshot a space and make a copy of it available under a different spacename. The export/import workaround is a total hack that I shouldn't have to do. Confluence should do it for me.
not to mention that the hack is really rather broken as we found out recently (and yes have notified Atlassian of it).
The ability to copy a space comes up frequently in customer requests, such as when setting up new projects. Refer to sales@atlassian.com email exchange with housevalues.com for an example
Cloning a space would be an excellent feature that will be very useful for companies like ours that create the same structure for our various clients. This feature should have the option of copying or not copying the attachment document(s)>
I wrote a plugin to attempt this feature over a couple of fedex days: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFEXT/Copy+Space+Plugin
It's not perfect but it will be useful to some of you. Although not formally tested, we have been using it to archive documentation spaces on confluence.atlassian.com for about 8 months. My apologies for not updating the issue earlier. It would be great to have a reliable and non-beta way of doing this. I'm using the copy-space plugin to copy live content into a development space, but it makes me nervous when I'm using kit which is labelled "beta" and "may break" so loudly.
