Sulka,
The issues are now cross-referenced between applications (JIRA and Confluence). Thanks for pointing out the commonalities. Cheers, – ATLASSIAN JIRA - need a simple, powerful way to track and manage issues? The ability to Add Multiple Users to a Group at one time would be extremely beneficial.
Currently Group based user management is very difficult when you have large numbers of users. I agree - user management needs an overhaul. I find it pretty confusing.
We need a way to allow other, non-admins to manage Groups. See my comments on CONF-1514.
I'm sorry to say this, but we were waiting so long for this improvement, so we decided to do this ourselves. In the attached screenshot you can see the screen of the user managagement console plugin, which has the simplest and most intuitive interface for this particular activity.
Oops, I just posted by mistake our JIRA user management console screenshot. Here is the Confluence one. Although the user interface is VERY simple, it simply does the job.
Thanks for letting us know. Its great to hear that you have been able to use the Confluence plugin system to extend Confluence to meet you requirements.
We propose urgently to enable group admins to administrate their user group. Imagine that in a larger company the IT department does a boring job to administrate 100 user groups for the space owners. The alternative is that the space admins have to manage hundreds of individual users with all the permissions getting enabled for each.
So the keyword is: delegated administration Regards to all What is the current status of changing the way groups are managed? The last comment was that its being looked into for 2.0 but that has now been released with no change to group management.
We too are finding it very tedious having to add a new group to each user rather than quickly being able to select a set of users and add them to a group (as the plugin developed here shows). Rather than every company re-writing this macro can we get something like this included in the next release? Or a plugin made available? Jira got this obviously needed feature already - see http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/JIRA+3.5+Release+Notes
Bulk user management can be done using this excellent comamnd line utility by Bob Swift
http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFEXT/Confluence+SOAP+Client+in+Java You can easily script almost any user management task and even bulk import from .csv file. I can thoroughly recommend this, it saved me a lot of time adding 100's user to groups. So how do I rename group in Confluence? Is there anyone who can write SQL for this? Or name all the tables and fields that hold the group names.
I am using the hosted Confluence solution and find the lack of this functionality very annoying. As plug-ins are limited in this service I would like to see this feature added!
It would be nice to have the system be able to add or delete users from LDAP groups as well.

JRA-2207JRA-4588JRA-5460CONF-2191Please clean the issues a little and put the the user and group renaming on your road map - not having the renaming capability is a major pain.
