This is due to the fact that the mail queue still currently checks the old mail queue implementation (MailQueueImpl) and hasn't been updated to check the mail queue stored in a generic TaskQueue and managed by the TaskManager (pleaser refer to EMailNotifier class)

Consequence:
Mail Queue in Admin section does not work. Does not display queue items and hence cannot flush.
