Currently you can either turn a macro on or off for the entire confluence installation in the configuration files. It would be much better to be able to enable / disable macros on a page / space / global bases in the web interface.

Also a setting to stop this macro's state being changed in lower containers would be useful (eg: in the space set

off, and set is so that it cannot be activated at the page level, set the macro on globally, but allow it to be turned off in spaces).
