This one is particularly nasty.

Running the Confluence installer deleted the existing Confluence installation on my machine without even warning me it was going to do so. Good luck rolling back to the previous version if the upgrade fails!

We should do two things:

a) add a note to the screen that let's you select the folder: "Any content of the selected folder will be erased. Do not select a folder that contains a running or important Confluence installation"
b) if a folder is selected that contains content, a popup should open up, stating the same warning, adding "Do you want to proceed?". If the user selects no, then the popup closes and the user remains on the same screen (where he can change the folder, or press cancel).

I would like to see a rapid rollback option on the application folder, the data folder and the database. My manual process does this. Up to now I've been using a data folder like c:/confluence273, and a database confluence273db (and a service name confluence273) and restoring from zip into the new db. The zip restore now takes to long so I'd like to clone the db quickly at the db server before running the installation.

An installer that leaves the old system intact would be a big plus by ny cautious standards.

If the selected folder contains content, a warning dialog should warn the user:

"The selected folder contains existing content that will be deleted.

Are you sure you want to install Confluence here?" (Yes, No)

I've implemented the dialog as requested. See the attached screenshot for more info.

I have added a note to the installation guide:

If you are upgrading from an existing Confluence installation, choose a different Installation Directory i.e. do not overwrite your existing installation.
