Atlassian Status as of 18 October 2013

      Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your continued feedback on this issue. In the interest of transparency, we are closing this issue as it's not on the near term roadmap to implement. While there are many great feature ideas here, we cannot build them all into Confluence core. There are, however, options within the Atlassian Marketplace which provide this functionality. Thanks for all your feedback on jira.atlassian.com. Please keep your ideas coming.

      Regards,
      Bill Arconati

[CONFSERVER-1076] Support for translated page managment

I've raised a new issue CONFSERVER-57384 to revisit adding core support for multiple-language versions. I think this could be of great benefit not only to Confluence users but also to 3rd party marketplace providers like AppFusions who could build their plugins/translations workflow off of the core data structure. Anyone interested please vote/comment on CONFSERVER-57384.

This is available now by Appfusions at http://www.appfusions.com/display/LNGOTKC/Home

It has been commercially deployed, and we have new deployments in process.
Largest one supporting ~865 docs migration (1000s of pages!) to public Confluence - and 9 languages translated, with regular process! All in one place.

No more exports/imports and all the other nuttiness.. just efficiency!

            Out-of-the-box integrations, at current:
            1. Google Translate (Commercial license key support included)
            2. Microsoft Translator (Commercial license key support included)
            3. SDL LanguageWeaver (you provide license key)
            4. AsiaOnline (you provide license key)
            5. Omnifluent (you provide license key)

Additional and/or custom integrations are possible too. For example, we've done work with both SysTran (commercial) and Moses (open source) engines.

See this video - which is REALLY a snapshot of the power, but gives you a feel.

Yes indeed, the language plugin is nice and just what needs to be available in the standard confluence, at least for a first step. Unfortunately blog posts do not respect the formatting, so different languages are just displayed one after the other. Atlassian's advice in this case is to disable the "user-installed plugin". You can't be serious about that! We use Confluence for 2000 users! Confluence without native support for different languages is like buying a car with only 3 weels.

sysret, have you looked at bitvoodoo's Language Plugin? It's compatible with the latest version of Confluence.

this is open since 2004 and still unassigned? why that?
this is a crucial feature to compete with other wikis and solutions.

We need to be able to have the same content mapped in English, German, Chinese & Spanish, currently the company has like 5 very disperse wikis and I'm trying to pitch Confluence & Jira to management, this is the deal-maker.
