Improve validation for CVS :ext

      At the moment, if you supply a wrong password or no password when using a CVS repository with the :ext protocol,

      e.g.

      CVS ROOT: :ext:mchai@cvs.atlassian.com:/cvsroot/atlassian
Password: booyah

      just says that "Cannot open connection". We should detect that message and that the CVSROOT is an :ext and could also mean that the password is invalid.
