The installation directory of Bamboo should be improved and the contents of the distributions revisited:
  • Use a cleaner directory structure and create a webp-app directory.
  • Revisit and select appropriate distributions and their relevant launchers.
  • Include repository trigger scripts in distribution.
  • Rename "bamboo-server" to "startup".
  • Include other useful batches (install-as-service, etc.)

Hi Andy,

I was wondering which distributable you used? What happened when you tried to run Bamboo.exe?

Thanks,
Edwin

Hey Andy,

I was wondering if you have any more problems with this?

Thanks,
Edwin

Hi Edwin

I tried zip and tarball on windows. The directory structure was a total mess (ftl files in the root directory)

Can't remember the error - can try again tomorrow. What should the directory structure look like?

Also, the generic version has "macos" (for Max OSX) in the name. Minor point, but could confuse people.

The tarball runs but's it's well wierd having the web app files source files and the bamboo-server.sh in the same directory.

Hi Andy,

The current directory structure does indeed have some wep-app files in the root directory. Agreed - this is very confusing. We have looked at the BJ structure and we would be attempting to move to that in the next release.

Also, there has been some confusion about the launchers which should go with which distribution. Again, we would be looking to revamp this.

Cheers,
Edwin

Updating issue to more accurately reflect the task to be done.

Remove the exe launcher and use command batch instead.

This is mostly complete. I've raised an issue at BAM-459 for outstanding work
